Gays and the Gospel

“Believing the Words of Jesus Christ - a Gay LDS Perspective* by Clay Essig ©2008

This article is an overview of many of the teachings of Jesus Christ and other Latter-day Saint scriptures which literally helped save my life from seemingly inevitable suicide as a Gay Latter-day Saint. When believed and lived these teachings of the Lord resolve the confusion, fear, animosity and division surrounding God's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex children and are the basis for the Gays and the Gospel website.

[*Author's Note: The article "Believing the Words of Jesus Christ" was the stated grounds for my 2010 excommunication. I gratefully accepted the opportunity to appeal the Stake President's decision. My excommunication appeal to the First Presidency can be read here. Except for one grammatical correction and the removal of my former address, it is the same appeal I sent. It contains quotes from the First Presidency members serving at that time: Thomas S. Monson, Henry B. Eyring, and Dieter F. Uchtdorf that teach wonderful gospel principles which, like the Lord's words, if believed, lived and applied equally to God's LGBTIQ children as they are to all God's other children, would resolve the current animosity, division, destructive pain and even suicide over this issue. Why, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, God's LGBTIQ children are made the exceptions to these teachings, scriptures and God's universal gospel principles remains a mystery.]
